Christmas celebrated across Nagaland with religious dedication, gaiety

Christmas celebration across Nagaland culminated on December 25 marked with solemn religious fervor as well as gaiety.

As people exchange good wishes, in kind and in words, with friends and strangers, they also marked the day with prayers, special services, and carols besides the traditional mass community feasts.  

All over the state, people welcome Christmas through various decorations in the streets and at their homes, with the Christmas’ songs filling the air.

People thronged to churches on both on Christmas Day to celebrate the day with fellow believers.  

The Governor led the state in welcoming Christmas by conveying warm greetings and best wishes to the people.  

“As we celebrate the gift of life through the birth of Jesus Christ, my wife, Kavita Acharya and I extend out heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Nagaland,” the Governor PB Acharya said in his message.  

Stating that Christmas is celebrated to renew bonds of love, tolerance and compassion which Jesus taught the world, he also called for upholding “Christian values so that the Prince of Peace can live in us and rule Nagaland.”  

Further stating that political stability, respectful agreement resulting in Permanent Peace is the need of the hour, Acharya and his wife further wished all the people of Nagaland a Happy New Year.  

IGAR North: Meanwhile, the Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) and all personals of Assam Rifles have also wished the People of Nagaland “A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2018”.  

“We hope that this Christmas, Heavenly Father showers its blessings for peace, prosperity and happiness to all. May the New Year bring joy and good fortune,” the IGAR conveyed in a press release.
