
Dimapur: Rev. Dr. Vitoho Jimomi celebrated 50 years of his service at Nunumi Baptist Church on March 8. He was appointed as pastor of the Church in 1964 and is still serving as pastor. The celebration was attended by a host of religious leaders, dignitaries, leaders of organizations, GBs, friends, well-wishers and family of Rev. Dr. Vitoho Jimomi, a press release informed.

Speaking at the celebration, Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Finance Department noted that not only among the Sümis, but perhaps among the Nagas, this may be the first and only instance where a pastor has served in one village/church for 50 years and is still serving. He credited “this uniqueness” to both Rev. Vitoho and the denizens of Nunumi Village.

Remembering the past leaders such as Rev. I. Khala, Rev. Nitoi K Achumi, Rev. Najekhu Y. Sema, who were some of the pillars of the Sümi Church, he appreciated the services rendered by Rev. Dr. Vitoho Jimomi to the Sümis in general and to Nunumi Baptist Church in particular. Y. Kikheto Sema said, “I am what I am now because of God’s grace, and because of the prayer support of our church leaders like Rev. Vitoho.”
He also stated that in respect of clothing, food, etc, new is good; but for human beings and leaders, old is gold; and called upon the younger generation to honor, respect and regard the elders so “their blessing will be upon us always, to guide us with wisdom and prayers.” He also called upon the elderly church leaders to continue praying for the younger generation for a better tomorrow.
Earlier, Rev. Dr. Khehovi Shohe, Director, Sümi Baptist Convention regarded Rev. Dr. Vitoho as a religious warrior and peacemaker. Others also spoke in appreciation of the services rendered by Rev. Vitoho. Rev. S. Yevito, Executive Secretary, SBAK, Nito Mount, Zunheboto dedicated a book written on the celebration.
