
Medziphema, October 15 (MExN): Three days trainers’ training on ‘Production of quality planting materials and accreditation of nursery of fruit crops’ was conducted at Central Institute of Horticulture, DAC & FW, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GOI, Medziphema for Horticulture officers from Department of Horticulture, Govt. of Nagaland from October 9 to 11.
During the inaugural programme, Chairperson, Dr. Moasosang Longkumer, Asst. Horticulture Specialist, CIH, Medziphema, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the participants about the various activities undertaken by Central Institute of Horticulture, Medziphema. Dr. NK, Patle, Dy. Commissioner, DAC&FW, Government of India and Director in-charge, CIH, Medziphema, exhorted the participants and also deliberated on the importance of production of quality planting material and accreditation of horticultural nursery. Special guest, Dr. DJ Rajkhowa, Joint Director, ICAR-Nagaland Centre in his brief remark applauded CIH for organizing such trainings for state officials and also urged the participants to make the best out of this training programme.
The resource persons for the three days training programme were Dr. Heiplanmi Rymbai, Scientist, ICAR, Umiam, Meghalaya. Dr. Lembisana Devi, Scientist, ICAR, Tripura centre, Prof. Alemienla Ao, Dept. of Entomology, NU, SASRD, Dr. AK Sarkar, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Horticulture, NU,SASRD, Kavi Sumi, Scientist, ACRIP, SASRD and AK Singh, Horticulture Specialist, CIH, Medziphema.
The officers have interacted with experts about field problems in producing the plating material and their possible solution during lectures and visit of CIH nursery. Altogether 18 officials from all the districts of Nagaland participated in the training programme.
The three days training programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Kewecheu, HEA.
