Kohima, September 4 (MExN): Culminating programme-cum-get together of the ‘Citizen Rights & Duties Awareness Campaign’ team was held at Kisama on September 2.
The campaign, an initiative of the Kohima Law College LL.B final year student was launched by the Professor-in-Charge, Bar Council of India (BCI) Practical & Training Kezhokhoto Savi on July 14, 2017.
The awareness campaign team has conducted awareness campaign on ‘citizen rights & duties’ in the youth department of more than seven churches.
Keeping in mind that rights and duties are equally important and every right has its corresponding duty, the team had covered several topics such as Consumer Rights, Human Rights, National Food Security (NFSA 2013), Environment, Public Services Delivery, Lokayukta, Nagaland State Consumer Helpline with toll free No. 1800-345-3701, medical negligence, Food Safety and Standard (FSSA 2006), Clean Election, RTI and Street Vendors(Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending)Act, 2014.
In the culminating programme, the team leader Kezhokhoto Savi who is also President NVCO exhorted the members to remain a lifelong student and not to give up the curiosity to learn, keep oneself busy and never remain idle, be ready to help others life at all time and be happy with what one’s life either in profession or family life as everyone would run a family of oneself in near future.
The programme ended with feast and the team has also extended its heartfelt gratitude to police department for graciously extent their help in given their bus for transporting the team members/students to and fro. However, the team member assured the citizens that they would continue to create awareness on citizen rights and duties even as they passed out from Kohima Law College.
