Dimapur, May 13 (MExN): The Concerned Citizens of Nagaland (CCN) has once again informed the public that a peaceful, non-violent 'Campaign For Good Roads' under the theme "Good Roads, Citizens' Right" will be held from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on May 14 in Dimapur.
All concerned citizens desiring good quality roads in Nagaland have been requested to assemble near Town Hall, Supermarket by 8:30 am, where a short programme will be held.
A press release from Roko Chakhesang, Member, Core Group, CCN informed that a representation seeking good roads will be read out by H. Akato Sema, after which, the participants supporting the cause can append their names and signatures. The representation will be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur for onward submission to the State authorities. There will be no speeches by any organisations or individuals.
After the programme, organisers and volunteers will proceed to Holy Cross Junction, Nagarjan Junction, and Purana Bazaar area to paste slogan stickers on vehicles of willing citizens who share common concern for the public cause. Organisers and volunteers will be out on the streets till 12:00 noon, following which, placards and banners will be put up at Clock Tower, the release said. Slogan stickers have also been distributed to concerned citizen-volunteers from the other districts in order to reach out to citizens across the State to the extent possible.
The CCN reiterated that the campaign is not politically motivated in any manner nor are there any ulterior motives. The campaign has been initiated by like-minded concerned citizens purely to draw the attention of the Government towards the plight and untold hardships of the daily commuters and the masses, it stated.
As such, CCN said it will not be held responsible if any untoward incident(s) are created by any person(s) with ulterior motive(s). The officially entrusted organisers and volunteers will be wearing caps and badges for the convenience of the law enforcing agencies and the public, the release informed.
Meanwhile, CCN has appealed to the District Administration and Police to provide adequate personnel, particularly in the designated areas, until the campaign is wrapped up. It also appealed to all concerned citizens to come forward and support the cause by appending their names and signatures to the representation seeking good roads in the State of Nagaland.
