Finally the long awaited government is formed and we shall continue to live in anticipation for a positive change in our society. Like never before, this election was the most diverse with different groups of intellects, pouring their own school of thoughts for a better tomorrow. There were also few young faces with an agenda who, against all odds, have given a new ray of hope, to expect and believe that a 'dawn of new young Naga leadership is at hand'.
There were many ideas and thoughts but the one that really caught my attention was the 'clean election campaign'. It was an eye opener for many people and yes its interpretation was varied and diverse individually as per his/her own capacity of thinking.
The question that we all ponder at this moment is 'what was the clean election campaign all about? Was it to have a transparency in our way of voting? Was it to elect a good leader? Was it to stop illegal use of money ? or was it to stop having a nominated village/community candidate? The answer lies within us. There were many individuals and organisation that took active part in this campaign and I feel most of them will be satisfied deep within to be a part of such noble cause. There are also a lot of speculations on whether this campaign was a success or failure.
With all these hype and talks going on in our society and social media the real question that comes to my mind is 'Is clean election campaign really over ? Was it a campaign that started to end along with this election? Or what was the real motive of this campaign?
With small wisdom and understanding, I believe 'Clean Election Campaign' was all about changing people's life. It was about changing their outlook into more a rational and modern view thereby making them into more responsible citizens. It is a strive that will take a long time if not never to succeed completely. I feel we cannot judge it to be a success or a failure because 'clean election campaign' will never be a total success neither will it be a total failure. All we can do is to calculate in terms of numbers and compare with the previous result to pass a temporary judgment. It is one such idea and initiative that can go down as one of the greatest revolutionary movement in our history and life.
Hence I believe, we Nagas should be proud to start this brilliant movement and it becomes a responsibility of every good thinking citizen to continue this campaign till life's eternity. Clean election campaign is an endeavour to achieve a clear state of mind and it must go on continuously because it is about changing people's lives and in an ever changing era, the mission of changing people's lives never ends.
