CM Ibobi flags off of Imphal-Kangchup-Tamenglong road

Our Correspondent Imphal | March 7   Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh here on Monday flagged off development of the Imphal-Kangchup-Tamenglong road. The function was held at Kangchup Chiru in Imphal West.   Speaking at the flag-off, Ibobi stated that the 103.030 km-long road will be developed into a world class highway at the cost of Rs 1114.18 crore funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). While stating that completion of work on the British era road will take three and a half years, he urged upon all sections of the society to extend support and prevent causing any kind of hindrance.

  Stressing on the importance of bringing about peace, Ibobi said that Manipur as a multi-ethnic state it is imperative that law and order is improved to bring about development. Tourism, he added can aid in that direction, while stating that it can materialize when there are attractive tourist destinations in the state.   Ibobi further expressed happiness that Imphal has been selected under Smart City Mission of the Government of India and that it was recently adjudged as one of the cleanest cities in the country securing 15th position among 300 such cities. He also informed that the state government will soon start construction of the Imphal Ring Road.   Today’s function, among others, was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Works Minister Dr. Kh. Ratankumar Singh.
