CM lays Nagaland State Disaster Management plan

Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today laid Nagaland State Disaster Management Plan on the floor of the House.

The vision of this plan is “making Nagaland where communities react to disasters with sense of urgency but in a planned way to minimize human, property and environmental loss.”

The policy stated that saving of human lives will be at the highest priority. However, plan will also address minimum loss of property and environment.

Among the many objectives, it plan to protect and minimize the loss of lives and property/infrastructure from disasters, to minimize the suffering of people due to disasters, to minimize the disaster risk and vulnerability of people and infrastructure in the state, promote culture of prevention and mitigation through curriculum revision, IEC awareness campaign, mock drills, communicating hazards, risk and vulnerability at community level, mainstreaming disaster management concerns into the developmental  planning process etc.

Rio, who is also minister in-charge of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) also laid report on Incidents Response System, State Disaster Management Rules and Minimum Standards of Relief.

Earlier, Rio tabled Annual Administrative Reports 2019-2020 of Department of Justice & Law.

Soil & Water Conservation minister V. Kashiho Sangtam laid the Annual Administrative Reports 2019-2020   of the department.

Assembly Committee reports were presented by K. Tokugha Sukhalu, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (2020-2021),  N. Bongkhao Konyak, member of the Committee of Public Undertakings (2020-2021) and Toshi Wungtung, member of the Estimate Committee.
