Kohima, September 25 (MExN): The Chief Minister on Nagaland, TR Zeliang has been officially named as the ‘Chief Ambassador’ of the ‘Ambassador for Girl Child’- an initiative of the Nagaland Government. The announcement was made during the meeting held between the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW), the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) with the Chief Minister at the Chief Minister’s Office on September 25.
A press note received here stated that the concept of ‘Ambassador for Girl Child’ revolves around underprivileged girls by giving her an opportunity to pursue higher education thereby ensuring her employability which is one of the main objectives of the BBBP i.e. Education and Participation of the Girl Child.
The ‘Ambassador for Girl Child’ has three teams viz Governor’s Team; Chief Minister’s Team which includes Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and members of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and The Chief Secretary Team with the HODs and AHODs. The three teams will look into sponsorship of Girl Education and awareness on the importance of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
It may be noted that the Governor of Nagaland is the Chief Patron of BBBP while the Chief Secretary is the Brand Ambassador of the BBBP.
