CM stresses on local entrepreneurship

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today stressed on the need to improve and build up the state economy by evolving the right kind of approach in the industry and entrepreneurship sector. “We are a consumer society, not a producing society, Rio said adding that the quantity of the state’s production was meager and that the “Made in Nagaland” label is scarcely visible. He asserted that the time has come to intensify farming activities and adopt a business mindset to boost the economy of Nagaland state.

Addressing the gathering at Chiephobozou Local Ground after inaugurating the Kezekevi Kharu (Gate of Peace) and the Public Ground Gallery, Rio said that government jobs and contract works would not be available for all. He added that people have to identify the right kind of approach in industry and entrepreneurship and work upon it with sincerity.

Stating that job opportunities in the government sector have reached the saturation point, he said that the educated youth have to compete and that only the best of the best would succeed. Rio stated that there are 65,000 educated unemployed youth in the live register of employment exchange and the number keeps on increasing every year. Rio said that they would suffer if they wait for government jobs alone.

Rio said the government has been offering several packages to the educated unemployed youth and entrepreneurs by facilitating them through capacity building and training for gainful employment. He called upon the Naga youth to avail the provided opportunities and packages and gain maximum benefit from it.

Rio also called upon the village authorities to properly maintain the village reserved forest and asked them to strictly control the burning of jungle.

Also stressing on the need for effective functioning of the village administration, Rio asked the village authorities to protect its identity and culture and also to strengthen the civil societies. Referring to the Marketing Complex, Rio told the gathering to have a weekly bazaar and expressed confidence that business activities will pick up through such platforms and events.

Earlier, Khriehu Liezietsu, chairman Kohima DPDB and advisor Music Task Force and New & Renewable Energy inaugurated the Marketing complex at Chiephobozou which was constructed by the Urban Development department.

Parliamentary secretary for Urban Development Zhaleo Rio, Naga Hoho president Keviletuo Kiewhuo, Angami Public Organization (APO) president K. Neingunyu Sekhose and several other dignitaries were also present in the occasion. NAPO felicitated the elected legislators of Northern Angami I & II where Neiphiu Rio and Khriehu Liezietsu represent.

The function was chaired by Northern Angami Youth Organization (NAYO) president Kekhriengulie Theiinuo while welcome address was delivered by Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO) president Vilie-o Rutsa.

Chiephobozou ADC Martha Ritse and Neichiituo Rio, Chairman Central Council Chiephobozou presented the project reports of gate & gallery and marketing complex respectively. The vote of thanks was given by NAPO Vice President Silie Mepfiio.
