Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will be inaugurating Meluri district on February 21 at 11:00 AM at Meluri Public Ground. Nagaland’s government during its cabinet meeting in October 2024 has taken decision to create Meluri as the 17th district of the state.
The new district was carved out of the Phek district.
Rio will unveil the monolith of Meluri District near NST Complex, Meluri. The monolith unveiling ceremony will be led by Chülekhu Nyusou, Chairman, Meluri Town Council and dedicatory prayer by Rev Pantsa Leyri, District Superintendent UPCI, SEND.
Power & Parliamentary Affairs Minister KG Kenye, NRE & NSDMA Advisor Z Nyusietho Nyuthe and Chief Secretary Dr J Alam will deliver short speech. Meluri District profile will be given by Meluri Deputy Commissioner, K Mhathung Tsanglao while greetings will be shared by Chakhesang Public Organization, President Vezühu Keyho.
Welcome address will be delivered by Pochury Hoho President Chonpa Jurry while vote of thanks will be proposed by Puchury Hoho Vice President, Siewatho S Nyusou.
Rev Rümatho Nyusou, Executive Secretary Pochury Baptist Church Council and Rev Rathvü Thüvüri, Executive Secretary Pochury Council, NCRC will pronounce invocation and benediction respectively.
The inaugural programme will also be marked by special melody from Atusa Katiry, Wüwa Jisu Kükümüze from SEND Choir and cultural regale from Lozaphuhu Cultural Troupe, ARPO, KAPO, MAPO, PAPO and PPO.
