Dimapur, October 30 (MExN): Endorsing the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) and Ao Senden, the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) today expressed its dismay over an advisory issued by the state government directing all the officers to be in the station in view of the President of India Droupadi Murmu visit to Nagaland. The visit scheduled from November 2-3 coincides with the sesquicentenary celebration of Christianity in the state scheduled from November 1-3.
The CNTC, comprising of Ao, Sumi and Lotha tribes, also termed the timing of President’s visit as unfortunate and appealed to the state government not to restrict any one from attending the celebration and make alternative viable arrangements for the community to celebrate free from interference.
As the Sesquicentennial celebration was not only historic to the ABAM but to the whole of Nagaland and has been a long planned event, such advisory by government or any organisation should be avoided, the Council stated in a press release.
The CNTC further extended its greetings to the ABAM in its preparation to celebrate the coming of Christianity in Ao Naga soil from November 1-3, and sincere appreciation to all well-wishers who will be joining in the celebration.
