Mokokchung, July 22 (MExN): With the objective of inculcating the habit of discipline among the young children, the Boxing Association Mokokchung (BAM) led the participants of the ongoing free boxing coaching camp in cleaning the surroundings of the Multipurpose Sports Complex on July 22.
Out of the 161 registered participants, around forty from the senior category (age 13-16 group) volunteered in the social work. They thoroughly cleaned the inside and the outside surrounding of the sports complex for two whole hours before the start of the daily coaching routine.
“Boxing, or any other sports for that matter, is all about discipline; and the first step towards leading a disciplined life is through cleanliness,” said Bendangtemsu Ozukum, General Secretary of BAM.
BAM President LanuakumImsong, while appreciating the volunteers and the BAM officials, said that the social work was also a means to show the association’s gratitude to the administration for allotting the stadium for the coaching camp.
He also added that it was a means of teaching the young children the importance of maintaining public property.
“This is our stadium and we are thankful to the administration for allotting us to use it for the whole camp. It is only proper for us to keep it clean as a courtesy to our town,” said Lanuakum.
Meanwhile, on the fourth day of camp, the BAM President also handed over certificates to the Wushu Association Mokokchung (WAM) who successfully participated in the 2022 Edition of the Nagaland Olympic Games held at IG Stadium, Kohima.
Before the handing over the certificates, BAM General Secretary, BendangtemsuOzukum enlightened about the Nagaland Olympic Games and how they could, if they are dedicated, could also get the chance to participate in such state level and national level games in the future.
The Certificates signed by NOA President Neiphiu Rio and Secretary General Abu Metha were awarded to Wushu Association Mokokchung team Coach Mongsensari, Assistant Coach Tiakaba; Silver medallist Olangba, Bronze medallist Riaz, Bronze medallist Tulumatsung; and participants Tiakaba and Benjong. The WAM Team Manager for the 2022 NOG, Bendangakum, who is a technical instructor at the ongoing boxing camp, deeply appreciated the Boxing Association Mokokchung for taking the honour in distributing the Certificates in the presence of the young aspiring boxers. He said that such gestures would go a long way in inspiring the young children in the days to come.
Meanwhile, officials from the district administration and the CO of 12 Assam Rifles Col Rahul Gurung also visited the coaching camp and participants attending the Camp.
