Combat Academy Shines in Arunachal MMA Showdown

Dimapur, April 27 (MExN): Fighters from The Combat Academy, Dimapur, under the mentorship of Coach Khriemelie Metha, delivered strong performances at Aturto 3.0, one of India’s major mixed martial arts (MMA) events, held Saturday in Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh.

In the professional featherweight division, Kekhrieneitso Angami secured a commanding victory over Mumbai’s Nishant Karkera via unanimous decision after three dominant rounds. A former Kumite Warrior’s Hunt Fight League champion, Angami’s win advances him to the semifinals of the Aturto 8-Man Featherweight Grand Prix, where he will face New Delhi’s Nilesh Chaudhary in August. The Grand Prix final is slated for December and will crown Aturto’s inaugural Featherweight Champion.

Goodwin Ningshen showcased superior ground control and effective takedowns in a semi-professional bantamweight bout but ultimately lost to Assam’s Pankaj Das of Dojang MMA by a controversial split decision.

“Both athletes performed to their potential and continue to represent The Combat Academy’s standards of discipline, technical excellence, and perseverance,” said Coach Metha following the bouts.

The Combat Academy continues to establish itself as a leading center for MMA development in the Northeast and across India.
