Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The NSCN(R) today said that while is a matter of 'great happiness' that the Nagas are finally preparing to embrace 'Peace' for an 'Acceptable Solution' with Government of India (GoI) after decades of political imbroglio, it is “regretful and unfortunate” that some forces has “upped-the-ante against the NSCN functionary.”
Such “aggressive posture in full combat fatigues in blatant violation of the ceasefire Agreement" and only sending very wrong signals not only to the Nagas but also has the "potential to severely affect the peace efforts of both the GoI and the NSCN,” stated a release from the Ministry of Information & Publicity (MIP), NSCN (Reformation).
In this regard, the NSCN (R) noted that the recent leveling of allegation of running extortion by the NSCN in Itanagar and Naharlagun “is not only bereft of truth but is also uncalled for.” Instead, it noted that about a year ago “atleast 30-40 non-Naga youths from western Arunachal Pradesh” wanted to join the NSCN (R), but it ‘politely’ refused as it is clearly mentioned under a clause in the ceasefire agreement between the GOI and the NSCN, that, “the NSCN will not impart any Military training or arm anyone/group during the period of ceasefire.”
Likewise, clarifying its position on the recent news of the alleged killing of a youth in 'Changlang,' the NSCN (R) said that it is not “only highly disturbing" but also regretful.
“We regret and condemn such act where an innocent life was snatched away. The NSCN will not tolerate any such acts of killings or Intimidations in any manner and under any circumstances,” it added.
In this regard, it informed that an 'Intensive Internal Inquiry' has been ordered to find out the truth. “If at all, any of our cadre(s) is/are found to be involved, Necessary Actions' shall be initiated as per the 'National Azah and 'Party Discipline,'” it asserted.
