Committees for malaria, Measles-Rubella campaign meet in Longleng

Longleng, August 14 (MExN): Meetings of the District Task Force (DTF) Committees on Malaria and Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign was held consecutively in Longleng at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall on August 14.  

Longleng’s Deputy Commissioner & Chairperson DTF Committee, John Tsulise Sangtam welcomed the DTF members and highlighted the importance of having the meetings. He lauded the efforts of the doctors, medical professionals and DTF Committees to control, prevent, and eliminate malaria in the district with nil mortality rates for the last few years. He also advised the medical professionals to do more research and investigation for total elimination of malaria in Longleng district, stated a DIPR report.  

John further lauded the team of doctors and DTF committee on Measles-Rubella for conducting sensitization and training at various levels and to all sections of the society to create mass awareness to ensure cent percent MR vaccination in the district. He suggested for organizing a meeting of the administrative officers along with leaders of the religious community, heads of educational institutions, wards and colony, and NGOs for accurate collection of data to ensure 100% coverage in Longleng during the MR campaign.  

Keynote address and PowerPoint presentation on malaria elimination programme in India, its vision, goal, objectives, strategies, vector control measures, scope of DTF committee, role and responsibility of the government agencies and departments and activities of the NVBDCP to prevent, control, and eliminate malaria was presented by Dr. Manyau Phom, DVBO.  

Meanwhile, Dr. Meren, DIO & DPO (RCH & UIP), Longleng gave a PowerPoint presentation on sensitization, training and other related activities carried out at various levels in the district for all sections of the society. He also shared problems and grievances faced while carrying out such events in the district and blocks and suggested measures to redress the issues.   CMO Longleng Dr. O Kongyan Phom also spoke at the event.  

Role and responsibility of government agencies, direction for cleaning of stagnant water in the surrounding area & cleaning of water harvesting tank in the schools during the malaria season, inclusion of new officers in the DTF committee and utilization of Angawadi Workers, government officers and NGOs in the data collection for MR campaign were discussed during the deliberation hour, the report added.
