Dimapur, January 15 (MExN): Responding to the statement issued by the publicity cell, NSCN (unification), the NSCN (IM) has pointed out that in the matter of Naga unification the question of “non-co-operation” and non- participation does not arise and that the issue of the magnitude of Naga unification is nobody’s domain. The NSCN (IM) in a press note issued by its MIP stated that common wisdom of the entire Naga community should have come first before the unification issue was made public. “Because this serious issue is Nagas prerogative and not any single tribe’s prerogative. The violation of this code of conduct on Naga unification has been the turning point that has proved disastrous and disgusting in the practical sense of the Nagas aspiration for genuine and committed unification”, the MIP stated adding that Naga unification being the collective responsibility “no overbearing attitude will stand the test of toleration when placed before the Naga people”.
The NSCN (IM) pointed out that given the importance of Naga unification and as per past records, attempts were made by Naga Hoho and GBs and DBs. It alleged that all this move was “spurned by Khaplang group” and that “curiously enough this same group is raising hue and cry over the rejection of Naga unification started by habitual defectors like Azheto and Kiyekhu in collaboration with western Sumi Hoho and Sumi Hoho and now facing premature damnation”.
“The Khaplang group who have the traditional problem with the Naga civil societies and who declared before the Nagas that unification should be processed without the involvement of the Naga civil societies have no moral right and authority to touch on the agenda of Naga unity”, the NSCN (IM) stated.
Pointing out that unification is a “people’s issue”, the NSCN (IM) stated that an organization that does not represent people’s movement should stay silent and stated that Naga people should judge who is doing right and who is doing wrong. In this regard, the NSCN (IM) questioned “brig.” Niki Sumi. “In today’s situation the Naga people would be curious to know the where about of Mulatuno and Kitovi, the brother-in-law duo who are deadly against Nagalim integration and whose venomous attack against the Tangkhul unnerved the fellow Nagas who stand for a broad based Naga unification. Where are they today- in Azheto’s group or Khaplang?”
The NSCN (IM) reminded that these were the people who charged the NSCN (IM) of having link with Al-qaeda and that for them the NSCN (IM) whom the government of India is negotiating for the last ten years is a terrorist group. “These are the two who served quit notice to the Tangkhul community and who also pronounced before the Nagas of Manipur are welcome to be part of the Nagalim but not the Tangkhuls”. “Mr. (Brig.) Niki Sumi, are you in the position to enlighten the Nagas on the positional status of these two outspoken duo? If you are helpless in this regards you better stay away from making any statement on Naga unification”, the NSCN (IM) stated.
“As far as the claim of Naga Unification under the Khaplang group and Azheto group is concerned” the NSCN (IM) stated that it has nothing to do with it and that defector and traitors cannot represent people’s interests. “You go your way and let the people see how far you can go building the civilized norms of interpreting people’s sentiment”.
