Community sensitised on Dengue at Chümoukedima

Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): A community awareness campaign on Dengue was held at Chümoukedima Town Hall on July 31. The awareness campaign was organised for the ward leaders and the business community of Chümoukedima.  

Dr. Rohan, CH Consultant, CIHSR as a resource person, oriented the participants on the causes, signs and symptoms and diagnosis of Dengue. He further informed that Aedes Aegypti mosquito that causes Dengue was a fearless daytime biter and its peak biting periods are the early mornings and in the evening before dusk.  

M. Ezewe, DVBDC oriented the participants on the prevention and control measures of Dengue. He emphasised the importance of sanitation. He urged the participants to follow the 4S to control dengue which includes Search and destroy mosquito breeding laces, secure self-protection, Seek early consultation and Support fogging or spraying only in hotspot areas.  

Thejavizo Nakhro, EAC Chumukedima while delivering the vote of thanks, also led the participants in making a resolution to conduct social work in their respective localities to control mosquito breeding places and prevent the spread of dengue in Chümoukedima. He further urged them to keep their own surrounding clean on a daily basis.  

The programme was chaired by Dr. Imtiwabong Aier, DVBO, NVBDCP. Other participants included President, Pastor Union Chümoukedima and Staffs under the Administration Department, Chümoukedima. More than 500 members participated in the awareness campaign.
