MOKOKCHUNG, JULY 23 (MExN): In compliance to the Urban Development Department notification of July 10, the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has announced complete ban of all Single Use Plastics (SUPs) carry bags irrespective of microns and all Single Use Plastic bottles and soft drinks below 1-litre within its jurisdiction from August 1 onwards.
In this regard, all individual, institution/commercial establishments which include educational institutions, offices, hotels, shops, restaurants, religious institutions/faith-based institutions, industrial establishments, banquet halls etc in the ULB have been directed to abide the aforesaid ban. Any breach shall be liable for penalties, it added.
A penalty of Rs 10,000 for first offence and Rs 20,000 for second offence shall be realized from the defaulters and for subsequent offence; trade permit will be cancelled, the notification issued by ADC & Administrator, MMC Chulamo Humstoe stated.
