Mon, December 12 (MExN): Considering the increase in domestic violence against domestic helpers/servants and children everywhere, the Concerned Chee Forum (CCF) has resolved to take immediate step to prevent any unwanted situation that may arise. In a statement, the Forum asserted it views the issue very seriously.
The resolution was taken during a joint meeting of CCF, which comprises of five villages under Mon district – Sheanghah Chingnyu, Sheanghah Tangten, Sheanghah Wamsa, Sheanghah Mokok and Sheanghah Lokyo, along with Patron members, elders and students’ unions on December 10 at its treasurer’s residence.
The Forum in the meeting reaffirmed that “child labour/mistreatment to children will not be tolerated under any circumstance.” In this regard, it appealed to everyone to treat every child under one’s care as their own child by knowing and fulfilling basic Child Rights.
CCF also appealed to house owners concerned to “kindly do a favor by sending back children (working as domestic helpers) from above mentioned villages to their respective villages during this Christmas season with following details”: Name of house owner, proper address with house number, contact number, and passport size photo of head of the family.
Failing to do so, CCF will be compelled to take its own course of action, cautioned the statement issued by Y Nockyam Wangnao, president and Bonwang Konyak, general secretary of CCF.
