Condemnation continues over life attempt on businessman in Dimapur

Dimapur, September 26 (MExN): Organizations continue to condemn the attempt on the life of Lhoupenyi Doulo, proprietor of Kuda Cold Storage at 5th Mile, Dimapur on September 18 allegedly by NSCN (K) cadres.

Doulo Clan: The Doulo Clan supported the 15 days ultimatum given to the law enforcing agencies by the DCCI, BAN, EDBA, CCCTA, etc to book the criminals. “Such terrible and atrocious activities are nothing short of Goondaism and terrorising in nature. If a 73 year old Naga businessman who is providing employment and hope to the Naga people can be shot at in his own work place by armed boys of factions marauding our towns and villages, then there is no safety for anyone,” the Clan stated in a statement from its chairman, Khazu Doulo and secretary, Liengute Doulo. Failure to arrest and book the armed cadres may lead to loss of confidence on the law enforcing agencies and doubt on the sincerity of the security forces in fighting against criminals, it added. The Clan hoped that the perpetrators will be booked at the earliest so that citizens’ lives are protected and the people’s confidence in the law enforcing agencies and security forces will be bestowed again.

Kuzhalhü Zawe: “Such dastardly act of terror against innocent dignified citizen has no place in the Naga society,” Kuzhalhü Zawe asserted in a statement.  The Kuzhalhü Public Organisation also wondered “whether NSCN (K) is fighting for the freedom of the people or busy perpetrating terror against its people through illegal extortion.” The organisation appealed to all the citizens of Nagaland to come together and condemn such dastardly act. Meanwhile, it supported the 15-day ultimatum submitted to the authority to arrest the culprits. The authority of NSCN (K) and the Nagaland state law enforcement agencies will be held responsible for their inaction if anything happens to Lhoupenyi Doulo and the situation flares up, it added.

NBAK: The Naga Business Association Kohima (NBAK) also condemned the incident. The NBAK members which comprises of only genuine Naga businessmen and entrepreneurs look upon a person like Duolo as an inspiration and encouragement for any Naga in the field of business, said NBAK Media Cell. “Therefore, life attempt by the Naga outfit to such a person is highly questionable and have no place for the development of the Naga society.” Such incidents of threatening and extortion are one of the biggest loopholes where we can never encourage each other to grow like any other civilized society, NBAK added. The Association has appealed to the law enforcing agency to book the culprits and also provide safety to the Naga business community. Meanwhile, NBAK lauded the 6 NNPGs announcing that it will not levy tax on the Naga business community and urged upon other Naga groups to also encourage and support the struggling Naga business community for the progress and development of the Naga society.
