Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): Several organizations have united in condemning the recent abduction of two community members, expressing outrage and calling for swift action from law enforcement. On October 10, two employees of 'Living Water,' a local business in Naga United Village, Chumukedima, were reportedly kidnapped by unknown individuals.
The Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Diphupar (AKTD) condemned the incident as a “cowardly act” that has instilled fear and anxiety among community members. The AKTD leaders, President Akumienba Pongen and General Secretary Imtinaro, demanded a thorough and impartial investigation and pledged to continue advocating for justice until the culprits are apprehended.
Similarly, the Foothill Ao Youth Organisation condemned the kidnapping as a reprehensible act that infringes on the fundamental right to life. In a statement, President Achen Imchen and Assistant General Secretary Purnungsang urged all citizens to speak out against such acts and called on law enforcement to bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly.
The Ao Youth Forum Diphupar also issued a statement condemning the incident as a violation of human dignity, expressing concern over the climate of fear and insecurity it has created within the community. President Alem Lemtor and General Secretary I Among Jamir appealed to the authorities for a prompt investigation and urged all citizens, regardless of tribal affiliation, to stand united against such anti-social elements.
The Diphupar Naga Youth Organization (DNYO) voiced its condemnation and frustration with what it called an “act of cowardice.” In a recent rally, the DNYO reiterated its stance on “One Government, One Tax” and warned that they would no longer remain silent. The organization also called on the law enforcement agencies to apprehend the suspects immediately, threatening to take action themselves if the culprits are not brought to justice. The DNYO further announced its decision to cease cooperation with any Naga Political Group (NPG) found to be involved in the incident.
The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) expressed its strong disapproval of the abduction and subsequent extortion demands placed on the 'Living Water' business. In a press release, the MTLT stood in solidarity with the youth organizations of Diphupar and Chumukedima, emphasizing that such acts undermine the peaceful coexistence within the Naga community. The MTLT further stressed the need for vigilance from law enforcement and called for an expedited investigation. They underscored the importance of maintaining harmony in Dimapur and Chumukedima, Nagaland's commercial hubs, and condemned actions that jeopardize the livelihoods of innocent citizens. The MTLT assured that it would support fellow Naga youth in safeguarding the community against such threats.
