Congress has been rejected by people of Manipur, says BJP

No-show by the Congress in the just concluded by-poll in Manipur indicated that the party is rejected by the people of the state, according to the BJP Manipur state unit.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Manipur state unit BJP spokesperson Ch Bijoy claimed that the by-poll results showed that Congress has been rejected by the people of both the hills and the valley of the state.

The BJP leader said that the votes secured by the Congress candidates in the fray showed that people of the state have no more confidence in the latter party. 

Meanwhile, the four newly elected members of the state Assembly will take oath on Thursday.

Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Y Khemchand will administer the oath to the newly elected members - Ngamthang Haokip, Agriculture minister Oinam Lukhoi and Paonam Brojen (all BJP) and Y Antas Khan (independent).

The oath taking ceremony will be held at the conference hall of the state Assembly at 1.30 pm, a notification of the Manipur Assembly secretariat said.
