Dimapur, January 5 (MExN): The imposition of Presidents Rule in Nagaland by the Congress-led center has made a mockery of Democracy, the NPF says. However, the regional party is in consolation that the Congress is now “a dying giant in its death throes.”
“The imposition of Presidents Rule in Nagaland by the Indian National Congress-led Government at the Centre in connivance with certain Congress leaders of Nagaland has made a mockery of Democracy” fumed a note from Kohima NPF youth president Mathew Solo and general secretary Thejangulie Theunuo. According to the party, the Congress will be left with a “bitter aftertaste in their mouth for betrayal and employing deplorable means to jettison the interests of the People.”
“NPF-led DAN Government of Nagaland has been given the people’s Mandate to govern, through democratic elections. In a month’s time, the people will once again reaffirm their support and belief in us and hand out a sound thrashing defeat to the Congress (I) Party in Nagaland” stated the NPF exuding confidence.
As for the Congress’ fate, the NPF stated that the national party is being rejected throughout the country. “Recent routing of Congress (I) in the State Assembly Elections of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh is an indication of trends to come, culminating in their wholesome defeat at the centre. Nagaland will also reject the Congress Party and its dirty practices” the NPF asserted. Stating that the Congress (I) is a “dying Giant in its death throes” the NPF note observed that the ‘desperate measures adopted by it clearly shows that it is very panicked.’
The Congress-led center is unabashedly applying different yardsticks to similar situations in Goa and Nagaland to retain Congress Governments and topple non-congress Governments without the least regard to the people’s mandate, it explained.
But for the NPF-led DAN government, the NPF note maintained that the coalition had performed ‘excellently’ in a span of nearly five years. Nagaland is experiencing a phenomenal growth “due to the NPF Government being sensitive to the pulse of the people and tirelessly working towards the realization of our goal.” On these points of “humble achievements,” the NPF asserted that “we are ready and eager to face the elections and receive the people’s mandate to take Nagaland to greater heights.”
