The 6 cases of COVID from the plain belt have taken the total number of active cases to 82 in the district after 10 more tested positive for the disease on Wednesday.

Restrictions as per the central government guidelines will be effective in the containment zones, with restrictions in movement of people already enforced. Barricades in various sections of the affected areas have also been placed to ensure stricter vigil.

“These areas under Phulbari CHC and Bhaitbari PHC have been declared containment zones with immediate effect till contract tracing is complete. Detailed notification is separately issued and will be implemented by the COVID committee under the BDOs,” said Singh.

Further with 2 shopkeepers from Old Bhaitbari being tested positive for COVID-19 during random testing, the area has also been declared a containment zone.

“After contact tracing is completed by the ISDP team under the magistrate, the area will be de-notified. Meanwhile contact tracing in other areas is currently on,” added Singh.

The DC has then asked all to ensure containment zones rules are followed to the letter defiance of which will lead to legal action against the defaulters.
