Dimapur, January 18 (MExN): Nagaland’s contractors have sought from the governor’s office, cancellation of table tenders set without ‘administrative approval.’ A letter addressed to the “advisor to Governor of Nagaland” by the Nagaland Contractor’s & Suppliers Union pointed out what it stated are anomalies in various government departments over certain work tenders.
“…despite time and again submitting representation to the government for inviting open tender, but still many contract and supply works of various departments were awarded through table tender without inviting open tender from the contractors” lamented the NCSU in its letter appended by secretary John Kath. The contractors’ union stated that such practices are illegal and in total violation of norms and policies adopted by the state government. Over these points, the union demanded cancellation of all work orders issued through table tenders for the upgrading of the road from Rusoma to Kijumituma (36 kilometers) and construction of the road from Phek to Chazuba (44.36 kilometers).
The NCSU appealed to the governor’s office to issue necessary directives and clear instruction to all government departments for compliance of government memorandum. In the event of failure to comply with the demand, the union warned of an own course of action.
