Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): The Nagaland Government Registered Class-I Contractors Union (NGRCCU) and the Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) in a joint statement informed that the two bodies are not parallel entities and that there are no differences between them. The unions were reacting to statements made by a former member of NGRCCU in the local press.
“Members registered under NGRC-ICU are all registered with NCSU. Both the unions have nothing to do with the alleged press statement of B Wati who was holding the post of Vice-president of the NGRC-ICU but was expelled w.e.f. 21.03.2006 due to his anti-union activities besides misappropriation of the union fund” stated Pele Khezhie, NCSU President and KC Angami, NGRCUCU in a joint statement. “Henceforth, if Mr B Wati does not refrain from his nefarious activities, both the unions shall take its own course of action” it warned.
According to the statement, in pursuance of the Government decision circulated vide memorandum No.AR-13/2/85 dated June 12, 1985 and further memorandum No.Bud/8-7/95-96 dated October 8, 1995, the NCSU “has been pursuing with the Government of Nagaland and for which the NGRCCU extends its full support and both the union would like to once again remind all government departments of Nagaland to kindly furnish details of contract/supply works allotted to contractors/suppliers under the State of Nagaland and cooperate with the union in its drive to receive these information”. The statement added that this is also persuaded by the union as its legitimate “right to be informed” under the Right to Information Act, 2005.
