Cooking and baking training underway at Mopungchuket

Mopungchuket, October 17 (MExN): A women skill development workshop on Cooking and Baking got underway today at Mopungchuket village organized by the NEZCC, Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Nagaland where 48 women from the village are attending the training. The 5-day training has 9 trainers from Aromatic Fusion Kohima led by Chef Salangyanger Jamir.  

At the inaugural function of the training here today, Asstt. Research Officer, District Art & Culture Office, Mokokchung, Imya Longkumer while delivering his welcome address urged the participants to grasp the opportunity and learn from the trainers. Adding that women play vital role in the rural economy, he encouraged them to upscale their skills.  

Master trainer and Chef, Salangyanger Jamir while making his introductory remark shared his insight in cooking and baking ideas and said that he will be teaching the participants the skill of cooking and baking using easily and locally available ingredients during the course of the training.  

Village Council Chairman of Mopungchuket, Aosadang Lemtur also encouraged the women to learn the new skills which will not only benefit them but the society as a whole. Adding that Mopungchuket being a tourist destination, he said that those acquiring the new skills would help develop tourism in the village. He also thanked the departments concerned for organizing the training in the village. President of Mopungchuket Watsu, Sangermongla thanked the Aromatic Fusion Kohima and the government agencies for organizing the workshop. The 5-day training started with a dedicatory prayer pronounced by the village pastor, Rev.Jongpong.  

On the first day of the training, the participants were imparted skills on preparing roasted chicken, crepe rolls and deep fried pork. The training hours will be conducted in two shifts each day with the first shift being conducted at 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and the second shift at 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This was informed in a press release issued by the coordinator of the training and MALT president Akumyanger.
