Cooperation dept to develop 1200 hectares in agri and horti sector

For the newly launched Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP), the state’s department of cooperation proposed to develop about 1200 hectares in agriculture and horticulture sector spread over the five districts of Kohima, Tuensang, Kiphire, Longleng and Peren.  

ARCS Imsunungsang stated this during the launching programme here Friday.  

The physical target of this ICDP programme for five districts mentioned that these produce will be collected, semi-processed and marketed through a network of collection centres, godowns, cold storages, processing units and marketing sheds where the project has a provision of 44 units.  

It also stated that transportation of the produce within and export out of the district will be done by deploying pick up vans, heavy transport vehicles and Refer vans where the project has earmarked 48 vehicles.  

In credit sector, the project proposed to enhance the working capital of 114 cooperative societies and install 100 nos. of Micro ATM across 5 districts.  

The allied sector has provision of Dairy- 21 units, Piggery- 251 units, Poultry- 28 units, Mithun rearing- 41 units, Fishery- 80 hectares, Bee keeping- 132 units.  

Industrial sector has earmarked the followings; Weaving- 94 units, Handicrafts- 39 units and Brick Manufacturing – 2 units.  

Imsunungsang said the present phase of ICDP for five districts was initiated basing on a set of modalities laid down by the state government.  

Project Implementing Team (PIT) personnel have been constituted only from the cooperation department unlike previous ICDPs, where deputation and open interview was considered.  

He said that every step of DPR preparation was guided and finalized by the department.  

For the first time, Aadhar is to be used for identification of society officials and members.  

Loan guarantee are to be obtained from VDB/Village council.  

He also stated that all payments are to be made through bank accounts only, adding that the whole implementing process is structured with major focus on recovery of the loans.  

This programme will run for 4 years covering all major agri & allied activities supported by storage, transportation and marketing facilities.  

Mentionably, this ICDP programme for five district was launched by agriculture and cooperation minister G. Kaito Aye on Friday at Hotel Japfu, Kohima.
