Court grants ad-interim bail to defendant in Nagaland Chief Minister fake news case

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 22 (MExN): The Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kohima has granted ad-interim bail to one Dietho Rakho who applied for the same pertaining to circulation of fake news of the Nagaland Chief Minister’s cabinet resignation.  

The defendant’s counsel petitioned to the judge that “there is no other criminal case against the petitioner except this case” and that “if the petitioner is arrested, his image in society will be damaged irreparably.” It further assured the court that the petitioner would “cooperate with the investigating agency in all manners.”  

The court, in an order dated December 22 has set January 15, 2018 as the date for filing objections if any. The petitioner has been granted ad-interim bail till January 15, 2018 and directed to report and cooperate with the investigating agency. “In the event of the petitioner arrest, he should be forwith release on bail bond of Rs 10,000 with surety of a bailor,” the order added.
