COVID-19 care train coaches start operation

Maligaon, June 23 (MExN): Indian Railways has started providing care to corona patients referred for admission in COVID Care Coaches deployed in various states.


According to a press release from NFR CPRO Subhanan Chanda, 42 COVID-19 suspected patients were admitted in the coaches deployed at Mau Junction railway station in Varanasi division on June 20 while 17 patients were admitted on June 21. Of them, eight patients have been discharged already, the release added.


5,231 COVID care coaches are available to be provided to states by Indian Railways used for very mild or mild COVID-19 cases.


Till date, Indian Railways has deployed total 960 COVID Care coaches in 5 states -Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.


315 COVID Care coaches have also been kept ready by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) with all medial provisions as perw  guidelines for placements at nominated stations as and when requested by the respective state governments, the release informed.
