For the fifth consecutive days, Nagaland registered more recoveries than fresh COVID-19 cases; however, the State also witnessed fatalities from the virus for third day in a row on February 6.
As per the daily COVID-19 update from the health department, there were 34 new cases on Sunday with Dimapur leading the tally with 23 cases followed by 10 in Kohima and 1 in Phek.
The 34 cases were out of 471 samples tested on February 6, denoting a sample positivity rate of 7.22%, the update informed. With this, the total COVID-19 caseload in the State increased to 34856, out of which 698 were active cases.
Meanwhile, a total of 71 patients also recovered from the virus on February 6, and once again, Dimapur saw highest recoveries at 57, followed by 13 in Kohima and 1 in Mokokchung.
Since February 2, recoveries outnumbered fresh cases in the State and total recoveries from the virus stood at 31968 on Sunday.
However, the State continued to witness fatalities for third consecutive days with 2 more patients in Dimapur succumbing to the virus on Sunday. On February 5, Nagaland recorded 5 deaths while on February 4, there was one fatality.
Accordingly, the total COVID-19 deaths in Nagaland as of 6PM on February 6 stood at 739.
The daily COVID-19 bulletin issued by State’s Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) also informed that there were 4 more patients with COVID -19 positivity also died, but they were designated as “Non Covid Deaths.”
Incidentally, the bulletin informed that out of 698 active cases, 5 patients were in intensive care unit on ventilator; 2 in ICU without ventilator; 1 on oxygen; and 8 on moderate oxygen.
A total of 25 patients had mild symptoms while 531 were asymptomatic.
