• Advice its residents against non-essential movements and non-compliance of COVID appropriate behavior.

• Create an atmosphere where concern, fears and tension experienced by the residents are resolved in a responsible manner or brought to the notice of the concern authority for proper redressal.
• To check the returnees from other States to go for mandatory screening under Wokha District and to ensure that the returnees follow COVID-19 appropriate behavior and strictly adhere to the guidelines/SOP for returnees.

Appeals to follow SOPs

For the safety of the public health on COVID-19, the DC has made an appeal to follow the new SOP. According to a DIPR report, there have been reports from the District Surveillance Team that some persons under Home Quarantine/Home Isolation as advised by the medical team to contain the spread of COVID cases are not complying with the protocols and SOPs issued by the Government despite strict directives.

It also observed that many shops are overcrowded and people are still not wearing masks or observing social distancing with due diligence and also people are moving from one colony to another despite restrictions on non-essential movement and private vehicles have been observed to be plying without passes.

“This laxity is a cause of concern in view of the ongoing rapid spread of covid-19 cases,” the DC stated.

Therefore, it reiterated that any violation of or non-compliance to any other clauses/provisions of SOPs/Advisories currently in force including Home quarantine/Isolation, contact tracing, testing (Eg. Refusal to disclose contacts, refusal to undergo testing, breaking Home Quarantine or Isolation norm, discrimination or stigmatization of those affected by Covid-19 etc) will invite punishment/penalties under relevant sections of the Nagaland Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Nagaland Epidemic Diseases (COVID-19) Regulations 2020.
