Covishield vaccine for COVID-19 reaches Tuensang

Covishield vaccine for COVID-19 was launched at Tuensang District Hospital in the presence of Advisor I&PR, SCERT and VGs Nagaland, Toshi Wungtung and MLA Tuensang Sadar Toyang Changkhong Chang on January 16. 

The launching programme was also attended by Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Ramnikant IAS and his admin officers and SP Tuensang with CMO and MO Officials Tuensang.

Out of the 140 frontline workers registered beneficiaries Dr Senilo Magh, Medical Officer, District Hospital, Tuensang was the first to receive the vaccine in Tuensang.

While launching the vaccine, Advisor I&PR, SCERT and VGs, Toshi Wungtung said, “the country has taken extra strides and extra miles to know the details and origins of this virus and also the preventative measure as to how we should see the light at the end of the tunnel and today it’s the day we are coming out to the light.”

“Perhaps this could be day of the long awaited day for the country in fighting against the pandemic,” he said and added, “Let us be hopeful. In Nagaland our resistance is very strong and we are doing pretty fine. In the past one or two years it has led us into a path of preparedness and comprehensive approach.” 

He also said, “This COVID-19 has been a blessing in disguise not just for the health service systems of the state but in administration and the security amongst the public. It has shown us a path that we need to pull up our socks, we need to strengthen ourselves, and we need to be more prepared.”

MLA Toyang Changkhong Chang appreciated the government of Nagaland for the tireless efforts in containing this pandemic from saving its citizens from going worse at this time of launching of vaccine.

Dr Moa, Chief Medical Officer, Tuensang chaired the programme while invocation prayer was spoken by Avini, Chaplain District Hospital, Tuensang.
