Mokokchung, December 28 (MExN): The Crayon Club celebrated its 25th anniversary at its Treasurer’s residence at Kumlong Ward, Mokokchung on December 22 under the theme ‘Reviviscence’.
The celebration was attended by a host of club members, ward council members, Kumlong Baptist Church leaders, neighbors, well-wishers and invitees.
One of the oldest clubs in Kumlong Ward, Crayon Club is one of the most active social clubs taking part in different social activities with an aim to promote the talents of the youths in particular and the social uplift of the society in general.
Tiatemsu Mollier, Assistant professor of Fazl Ali College, while speaking at the programme as the main speaker, congratulated the Crayon Club on achieving 25 years of existence.
Dwelling on the theme of the celebration – Reviviscence, Tiatemsu encouraged the Club members to continue their yeomen service towards the general good of the society. He particularly encouraged the club members to adopt productive living in this competitive modern world and also to preserve the culture and traditions of the forefathers since it is fast disappearing in modern society, especially in the towns.
Meanwhile, a special prayer was pronounced by the pastor of Kumlong Baptist Church, Rev I Lima Jamir who also released the Jubilee Souvenir book. Short speeches were delivered by the chairman of Kumlong Ward Yimden, S Lanu Imchen, Crayon Club Treasurer, Lanutoshi Jamir and the first Club Treasurer, Atula.
Club president, Dr Imlinichet Imchen delivered the welcome address while an ‘encomium to the departed souls’ was conducted by founding member, Yangertoshi Pongen.
Upcoming young singer, Tiasola Ozukum presented a soul rendering song titled ‘Blessings’, while the vote of thanks was delivered by General Secretary, Maongtemjem Kichu.
The Crayon Club was established in an informal manner by nineteen likeminded youths of Kumlong Ward way back in 1992. It is a registered Club with the motto ‘Be taught, be trained and shine forth’. It is non-profit and apolitical with the sole objective of rendering social service at various platforms.
Over the past 25 years, the Crayon Club members have been participating in different competitions and brought many laurels to the society; it is also an active partaker of the ‘Go Green’ initiative of the Kumlong Environment Committee under the aegis of the Kumlong Ward Yimden.
