Kohima | April 30
Following the Cabinet’s decision to revoke the absorption order for 147 Assistant Professors, the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) and Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) have reiterated their demand for the immediate requisition of these posts to the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC).
Protesters continued to demonstrate outside the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), shouting slogans calling for the requisition of the 147 posts to NPSC. Some protesters were also seen preparing for exams, studying for seminars, and checking papers as part of their ongoing protest.
In a representation to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, CTAN and NNQF expressed their gratitude to the government for revoking the absorption order on April 30. However, they emphasized that their second demand, regarding the requisition of the 147 posts, remains unchanged.
"The second demand of our protest stands resolute on the immediate requisition of the 147 posts to NPSC, in line with the Office Memorandum dated June 6, 2016, for a free and open competition," the representation stated.
The groups have set a deadline of May 21, 2025, for the government to meet this demand, warning that if the requisition is not made within three weeks of the representation’s receipt, they will resort to "democratic means" to voice their grievances.
Earlier, the Naga Students' Federation (NSF) sealed the main entrance of the Directorate of Higher Education at 7 AM in protest. However, upon hearing the news of the government’s revocation of the absorption order, the NSF reopened the gates and proceeded to attend their presidential meeting.
