
DIMAPUR, MARCH 16 (MExN): While observing the World Consumer Rights on March 15, the Life Consumer Soceity & RTI, Dimapur district pointed out that there is serious need for the consumers of the commercial hub of the state to be more aware of the rights of the consumers. The Life Consumer society stated that the society will be stepping up its vigilance to check any trading mal-practices that the traders resort to, in order to earn
extra profit.
The society also said that rackets of petrol adulteration, black marketing of LPG, random fixation of rates by traders, the selling of goods without MRP tag, usage of false measuring and weighing scale etc, are highly practiced in the district. It added that such illegal activities must be stopped at once in the interest of the public. A press note informed that the society would be conducting social audits in order to check such practices and that defaulter(s) would be penalized as per the provision of Consumer Rights Act.
Making the statement on Friday, Vitoho Yepthomi, press secretary of the society appealed for the public of Dimapur district to be vigilant of mal-practices of traders and co-operate with the society to curb the illegal trading practices in the district.
