
Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): Longleng district administration has revoked the curfew imposed in the district on February 27. However, prohibitions under section 144 CrPC would remain within Longleng town, till noon of March 6.
In this connection, Longleng Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate (DM) Dharam Raj cited reports from security agencies in the district and said that peace, and tranquility have been established in the town post the conduct of the General Election and “There does not seem to be any serious threat to the peace and tranquility, lives, and properties of the general public within Longleng Town.”
As such, “the Curfew in town is no longer extended and that normal life in Longleng Town with prohibitory orders is resumed,” the DM stated in a press release issued through the state DIPR on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the DM promulgated section 144 CrPC within the administrative jurisdictions of Longleng Town, imposing prohibitory orders restricting any movement and unlawful assembly of more than 5 persons for 72 hours starting noon of March 3.
However, any assembly of security personnel, people for religious events, funeral services, marriages, examinations, schools, government offices, carrying of or loading and unloading of essential goods have been exempted from this order.
Any person(s) found violating this order shall be punished under section 188 Indian Penal Code with Imprisonment for up to 6 months, a fine, or both, the Order stated.
