CWWS 40th assembly held

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 9 (MExN): The Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) held its 40th Annual General Assembly at Chakhesang Mission Centre Church, T Chikri, Pfutsero from October 7 to 9 under the theme ‘Prosperity Through Sustainable Livelihood.’ 274 delegates attended the program.   In view of the State Government’s move to implement 33% reservation for municipal bodies/town councils, the assembly resolved to “encourage capable women to avail this privilege in the greater interest of the society.”   Further, as an initiative for sustainable environment, it resolved to organize yearly Cleanliness Drive Day in respective village. In conformity with the CPO resolutions, it agreed to uphold and pray for the unity and integrity of the Chakhesang people.   The assembly also agreed to reaffirm the commitment to create awareness on human trafficking and fight all kinds of anti-social elements; and to attain prosperity through sustainable livelihoods by sincere stewardship of resources in all endeavors.   KG Kenye, MP Rajya Sabha was the guest speaker, who said “When everything fails we still have hope found in women in the form of a thin thread which keeps the society together.” He also released the second edition of ‘Chakhesang (Naga) Attires and Ornaments.’   Mercy Epao, Director, Ministry of DoNER, Government of India, the Resource Person spoke on the theme and ‘Strategies for Sustainable Livelihood.’ Rev Dr VK Nuh, former General Secretary FNBA, encouraged women to be the bearers of excellent characters, reflecting patience, courage and humility.
