CWWS conduct training in villages

Phek, July 18 (MExN): ‘From subsistence to prosperity through community led and managed livelihood program’ an undertaking of a NEIDA project implemented by the Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) under piggery component conducted four days training from July 13 to 16 on ‘care  and management of pigs.’  

The programme was conducted in seven villages namely, Kikruma, Thipuzu, K. Basa, Phuyoba, Thetsumi, Tsupfume and Zhavame.  

Dr. Ketinaro Aier, Technical Support Livestock NEIDA, facilitated the training on the topics on the importance of proper pigsty construction, sanitation, deworming, vaccination and its effects, tips for timely detection of heat and care of pregnant sows and new born litters have been stressed upon. Beside class room and theoretical inputs, practical learning activities on how to manage castration and injection were also taught to the Livestock Service Provider (LSPs)  

The farmers were very receptive to the training activities and the outcome of the training was very positive. Many farmers, beneficiaries and even those who are not covered by the project have received treatment (vaccines and medicines for their livestock) and were benefitted with more knowledge on how to raise healthy and productive cattle for self consumption, market production and inexhaustible piggery farming.  

CWWS in a press release stated that through the training the farmers have gained more inputs which will take them a long way as far as livelihood and farming is concerned.
