Kohima, January 20 (MExN): The executives of the Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) along with advisors had a consultative meeting with former CYF presidents on January 19 at Hotel Urra, Kohima.

Vezhoduyi Nakro president CYF shared the intention of a joint meeting of CYF and former presidents.

All former CYF presidents present expressed their appreciation and satisfaction for calling joint meeting by CYF, which was first of its kind in CYF history.

Taking the lead, ex-CYF president Kekhwengulo Lea shared historical background leading to the formation CYF with its motto, " Youth for the nation" on 20th July 1995.

He explained that the nomenclature and the motto adopted, which at that point of time, suit the community's welfare and vision best.

He recollected how CYF underwent extremely difficult journey and survived thus far with the support of the Chakhesang community and its leaders, and urged the new CYF team to serve the community with a sense of patriotism in close coordination with the parent body Chakhesang Public Organization.

Neilo Khape, ex CYF president informed the gathering how CYF played critical role in formulating policies for safeguarding the interest of Chakhesangs in all fronts particularly protecting our leaders, promoting local entrepreneurship, job reservation, curbing anti social elements, etc.

Mosonyi Domeh, Zhopayi Nakro, Welete Kapfo and Lhuvesayi Lohe, all ex presidents spoke in one voice to uphold CPO and CYF standing resolutions, strive to maintain Chakhesang image and for the welfare of the community in close coordination with elders and pioneers.

CYF advisors Dr. Zhokho Venuh, Vethihü Kezo and Colo Mero also shared suggestions at the meeting.

Mero felt that common welfare and the love of community should drive CYF to serve the society as frontal apex body.
He emphasized that, while it is important to protect and promote good old traditions, one should be open to new ideas and positive changes.

He rued that, most organisations today spends most of their precious times and resources in solving old problems for which he urged CYF to focus more on productive ideas for progressive development of the society.

CYF should be fair and inclusive hence, no village or town; no person big or small, rich or poor, should feel that CYF is not for them, he said.

Nyitso Therie, vice president of CYF expressed gratitude  to the formers presidents and advisors for attending and sharing their valuable advises and experiences.

He shared his opinion that, if CYF stand by its principles, CYF will not go wrong.
