Dimapur, July 15 (MExN): The Darogapathar Village Council (DVC), Dimapur held an emergency meeting on July 13 to take stock of the stated ‘Silent Protest’ which took place at the TX Service, 2 ½ mile, Darogapathar Village starting around 3:00 pm on July 12, under the aegis of “Concerned and likeminded members of the society.”
The Council chairman, Nüngtok Meren Jamir, and secretary K Ado Bizo in a press release stated that the DVC is greatly perturbed with the event on July 12 ‘Silent Protest’ and therefore the necessity to issue the rejoinder that the village authority does not allow any kind of protest/gathering without proper consultation and the consent of the village authority. The DVC strictly condemns such gathering as “it was done so without the approval from the DVC.”
Meanwhile, the Council reaffirmed that it is compulsory and mandatory to seek its approval before staging any gathering/protest of any manner within the premises of the Darogapathar village. The DVC also reaffirmed that it has given the Darogapathar Youth Organisation (DYO) the absolute executive power and authority to ensure that all of the resolutions/rules and regulations are adhered and implemented within the jurisdiction of Darogapathar village.
The DVC firmly states that any future incidents tarnishing the image, endangering the security and the wellbeing of the residents of the Darogapathar village will not be tolerated but be dealt with an immediate sternest action, as per the rules laid down in the constitution of the village council.
The village is very strict in implementing and ensuring that image of the village is not used in any form as a platform to promote any political ideology or any individual's vested interest. In the past, similar incidents have occurred within the jurisdiction of the Darogapathar village and which had risked the security and the safety of the residents and most importantly tarnished the image of the Darogapathar village beyond repairs. In the hindsight, to safeguard the pride, the social security and the safety of the village resident, the DVC, who is the local governing authority resolved to not allow any public gatherings without the consent from the council, it stated further.
