DBC takes action against blockage & encroachments of drainage

Dimapur, April 15 (MExN): Keeping in view, the main problem of stagnation and overflow of water in the main road in Duncan Bosti during summer mainly due to the blockage and encroachments of the drainage by residents, the Duncan Bosti Council (DBC) took the initiative of surveying the drainages along the roads and the main sewer.

During the spot survey of the drainages and the main sewer, it was found that many residents have blocked the drainages and the main sewer through encroachments, construction of latrines, dumping of waste materials etc.

“The DBC served a notice to these residents who were responsible for creating these problems to do the needful in order to keep the passage of the drainages clear within two months,” TT Angami, council member, DBC stated in a press release. After the lapse of the stipulated dateline, the Council in a follow-up action, along with the youth and women organisations on April 13 “took up the necessary action of demolishing whatever was necessary. Defaulters were warned to comply with the Council’s instructions within the time limit given.”

Moreover, butchers were warned to use appropriate scales and to charge according to DMC fixed rate only as some of them were charging higher than the DMC fixed rate. The Council also took note of many electrical posts in the colony that have outlived its use and irregular disposal of garbage by DMC and urged the department concerned to do their duties.
