DC Tuensang issues guidelines on COVID-19

Tuensang, January 12 (MExN): In the backdrop of the Government of Nagaland issuing an order re-imposing several COVID-19 restrictions on January 8 amid the concern over omicron variant, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant has issued new order on COVID-19 with ‘immediate effect up till January 31.’  

As per a DIPR report, the new guidelines from DC included 50% capacity or up to a maximum of 200 persons (whichever is lower) on social, political, religious, entertainment, academic, cultural gatherings and other public gatherings.

It further stipulated that all participants for such gatherings must be asymptomatic and fully vaccinated against COVID–19.

In case there is an unavoidable need to have bigger gatherings, they may be permitted only after getting permission of the District Task Force, the order said.

It further informed that night curfew “stands imposed from 9PM to 5AM with effect from January 9 in the district. 

However, goods, vehicles, vehicle transiting the district without any stopover, movement due to medical and other emergencies, agricultural purposes and any other movement permitted by the DTF will be exempted from the purview of the night curfew, it added. 

In addition, restaurants, gymnasiums, parks, place of entertainment, recreation areas etc would be permitted to open/operate with up to 50% capacity provided that all visitors and staff and all other concerned should be asymptomatic and fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

It further reiterated the standing State Government’s SOPs on incoming traveler to Nagaland. 

“Any person entering the state, above 12 years of age, including those full vaccinated, shall be required to carry a negative COVID-19 test report done through RT-P CR /TrueNat /CBNaat with the swab given for testing not earlier than 3 days of the date of arrival in the state,” it said. 

If the incoming traveler is not carrying a negative COVID-19 test report, or has a negative report but is symptomatic, or is below 12 years of age and symptomatic, then he/she will be required to undergo testing for COVID-19 at Government approved rates all the point of entry in the state, it added. 

The person concerned would be put-up in paid/ home quarantine till the declaration of the test result. 

The provision came into effect from January 10 and the SOP for entry of persons in the state issued by Hovernment of Nagaland, Home department on January 8 “stands notified to this extent,” it added.  

The DC’s order further informed that physical or offline classes for those studying up to class VIII stand suspended/closed till January 31. 

Any student of class IX and above and who has completed 15 years of age shall be allowed to take admission in attend regular /offline classes, only if he /she has taken at least one dose of the vaccine against COVID-19, it said. 

Any person /group found acting in violation of the above orders /SOPs /guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19 shall be liable to be prosecuted under relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other legal provisions as applicable.
