• Sets one week deadline to rectify anomalies; to initiate actions against corrupt officials
Zunheboto, March 25 (MExN): The aggrieved landowners from Mukhami, Phishumi, Marorni, VK Town, Ajiqami and Sastami villages, affected by construction of 2 lane from Doyang to lzheto under NH-O2 have rejected the “damaged compensation paid by the DC Zunheboto in cash.”
During its general meeting at VK Town, Zunheboto on March 18, the aggrieved landowners constituted the ‘Aggrieved Landowners, VK Area Adhoc Union, NH-02, Doyang to lzheto.’
The union in a press release issued by its chairman Er KT Hevito Labo and Secretary cum-Legal Counsel Advocate Abel Z Assumi stated that “after thorough deliberation, and taking opinions from all the aggrieved members, resolved to reject the so called damaged compensation paid by the DC Zunheboto in cash, without proper payment receipts.”
“Also having evidences of too many discrepancies, including withdrawing huge amount in cash (more than 29 Cr) by DC Zunheboto and payments made in his residence, random payments to many bogus beneficiaries and, in the process many genuine beneficiary names were found missing, including payments made ignoring the original 2017-18 survey & sanctions from MORTH thereof,” the union alleged.
“Further, submission of revised estimate for damage compensation has been done without justifying the original survey report,” it stated.
Therefore, the house resolved that “no construction activities shall be allowed within the portions of the aggrieved landowners till such time the concerned authorities rectify the aforesaid anomalies within the stipulated time i.e. one week from the date of receipt of this notice, failing which the union shall initiate legal proceedings before any competent court of law.” It also added that the union will “explore all options, including legal process, to obtain the original documents and other evidences in order to redress the grievances of the aggrieved landowners.”
“The union shall also shortly approach appropriate authorities to initiate actions against concerned officials who have openly flouted all norms and rules regarding withdrawal and payment of cash, manipulation of original documents etc.”
