DCCI requests to maintain parameters during surprise checking in shops

Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) today applauded the “good work” done by the Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) in conducting surprise checking of tobacco products in shops within 100 metres parameter of prominent schools and colleges of the city.  

DCCI in a statement issued by its president, Akashe Zhimomi and general secretary, Sanjay Sethi maintained that it always supports such initiatives to prevent young school and college going students from eating or chewing tobacco products.  

However, the Chamber requested the NWHD to see that the prescribed parameters are maintained while doing surprise checking. “The interest of the business community is of prime importance and the Chamber has always been cooperating with the administration and social organizations,” it stated.  

The Chamber also warned the shopkeepers and pan shops to refrain from selling tobacco products within 100 metres of any school and college. Asserting that selling of tobacco products to minor is an offence, it cautioned that strict action will be taken against defaulters by the concerned competent authorities as per the relevant provision of law.
