DCCI urges against imposing donations

Dimapur, December 15 (MExN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) today informed that it has received complaints from various quarters, especially the business community, about donation drives undertaken by unions and organizations during this festive season.

“Such activities are affecting the smooth conduct of business and shopping both to the business community, festive shoppers and public alike,” stated a statement from DCCI president, Akashe Zhimomi and secretary, Shikuto Achumi.

DCCI has therefore appealed to unions/organizations to desist from imposing any kind of donation, including selling of lottery tickets and calendars, on the business community and shopkeepers at large.

Meanwhile, it informed all members of the business community not to entertain such donation drives in any manner and further asked them to report to the DCCI regarding complaints of such donation drives.

In view of restoration of normal power supply, the Chamber also once again requested all business houses and shopkeepers to decorate and light up their shops.

“DDCI seeks the cooperation of one and all to make this festive season a season of goodwill, peace and joy as befitting the birth of the Prince of Peace,” the statement added.
