
Dimapur, February 14 (MExN): The Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers Union has strongly condemned the killing of auto driver Pradip Singh S/o late Bachan Singh. A press note from the president of the union, Akaho Kiba stated that the body was found in Showuba village, Dimapur.
“The auto drivers have become a soft target in the recent past and such cases of murder have been repeatedly committed on the innocent auto rickshaw drivers, who are the sole bread earner of the family,” the union lamented in the press note
In this connection, the union has appealed the District Administration and law enforcing agencies to leave no stone unturned in arresting the culprit(s) involved and deliver justice to the victim’s family. And also to speed up the investigation process in the auto rickshaw related murder cases of late Mukesh singh (29/08/10, late Vetsuzo Veyie (08/09/10) and Lt Baij Nath Sahani (03/01/11) as no positive out come of the said cases.
The union has also conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members of the deceased and pray to almighty God to grant them solace and comfort at this hour of grief.
Meanwhile, to show a mark of respect and solidarity to the deceased, the union has informed all the autorickshaw drivers to stay ‘Off Road’ from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on February 16.The union will not be responsible for any autorickshaw plying on the said date, the note said.
