Dimapur, December 17 (MExN): Three deacons from Phekeriema were attacked by a group of youths on December 15 at Hovishe (Tuolhophu) village. The deacons were robbed and later beaten by the unidentified youths around 7:30 pm. The victims have been identified as deacons Viliethie Dima, Dziesevituo Linyu and Medozhalie Metha. The deacons belong to Phekeriema Bawe Christian Revival Church. According to Phekeriema Village Council, the three victims had gone to Hovishe to buy some cattle for an oncoming Christmas feast on behalf of the church. They were accosted by the miscreants who demanded from the deacons, money. However, while the money was handed already over, the youths proceeded to attack the church leaders severely, the council informed. It was also added that the deacons had requested they be allowed to rest for the night in the village. To this, the youths assaulted them even more and forced the victims to leave the village.
