Dead body recovered from stream in Wokha

A dead body was recovered from a stream near the Doyang river by the Wokha Police along with a team from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), District Disaster Management Authority, Wokha today in the evening. 

Addl Superintendent of Police & PRO Wokha, K Soriso informed The Morung Express that police received the report of a dead body being found by four villagers of Nungwing in the morning at around 7:30 am.  The deceased, who is suspected to have drowned and carried away by the river current, was identified as Kezhalhouto Yongo (49) from Kezo town, under PO Sakhabama, Kezocha PS, Kohima. 

According to sources in the village, the deceased had left home for fishing at Dzü river on August 14. After he went missing, villagers began a search on August 17. On receipt of a dead body being spotted at a stream in Wokha, the villagers travelled to Wokha for confirmation. The Dzü river in Kohima is a tributary of the Doyang. 

Police said the dead body was found at Hanikotchu stream under Old Changsu Village. DDMA officials informed that home guards, civil defence and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) moved to the spot at around 9:30 am and retrieved the body at around 2:40 pm. 

The body has been handed over to the family after all formalities, police further informed.
